Afonso Carvalho graduated in 2016 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas in Brazil with a degree in Architecture and Urbanism and has brought his talents to the ARTEFACT studio team as a Project Designer.
Mr. Carvalho's research during his university studies focused in urban planning with concentration in parks and open spaces. His work was presented at the International Symposium of USP (Sao Paulo University). After graduation he entered a post graduate course in marketing where he developed his knowledge about human behavior.
Growing up in Brazil Afonso was always interested in sports and the arts; particularly music, theater and drawing. Architecture was a natural way to merge art and social life. While at university he excelled in judo and was a state champion. During this period Afonso was approved and selected to participate in an academic exchange program in the University of Seville in Spain. He then participated in a cultural exchange in London where he visited architecture universities recognized worldwide and spent time throughout Europe studying renowned works of architecture in twelve different countries. His love of sports led him to continue his travels, this time to Rio where he volunteered at the 2016 Olympic Games which afforded the influence of 200 different cultures.
Afonso was present at the largest architecture congress in the world, the UIA 2017, base in Soul, South Korea where he had contact with the newest and most technologically advanced architecture. Having worked in both architectural and engineering offices, Afonso is well versed in the collaboration of construction which streamlines the design process.
